Carmel Valley Pet Clinic - We love your pets like they're our own.
Our Services
Annual examinations
Because our pets age at a much faster rate than we do, it is best for our pets to receive an examination from their veterinarian at least twice a year. These examinations check for heart health, dental health, weight maintenance and much more. During examinations Dr. Liu and his staff will discuss with you preventative medicine for your pet such as vaccines, heart worm prevention, flea and tick prevention, at-home dental care, daily feeding, proper ear cleaning, routine dewormings and much, much more! Appointments are recommended to see the doctor for an examination, although whenever possible we try to squeeze you in the same day that you call. Give us a call for more information, or send us an e-mail at carmelvalleypetclinic@yahoo.com

Wellness Screenings
Yearly wellness screenings are a very important way of keeping your pet healthy by finding a problem early if one exists. Animals under the age of 6 are encouraged to get a yearly junior wellness blood screening, urinalysis, and fecal tests. Animals over the age of 6 are encouraged to get a yearly senior wellness blood screening, urinalysis and fecal exam. We also offer thyroid hormone testing, heart monitoring, heartworm testing (which is required once a year) and more in order to provide your pet with the best care possible and provide you with peace of mind. Your pet's well being is what is most important to us!

Dental Exams and Cleanings
The American Veterinary Medical Association recommends a dental cleaning annually for adult cats and dogs. Here at Carmel valley Pet Clinic we use state of the art ultrasonic scaler and digital x-ray to perform these procedures. A very thorough dental examination, cleaning, polishing and fluoride treatment will be performed while under full anesthesia. Dr. Liu and his staff perform dozens of these dentals every month. Your pet will be sent home that same afternoon with a supply of antibiotics and a wide array of information about home dental health care, such as brushing, dental chews and tartar reducing foods.  For further details, please give us a call or send an -mail to carmelvalleypetclinic@yahoo.com
Vaccinations
We use only the safest vaccines here at Carmel Valley Pet Clinic. We provide vaccines for every stage of life from kittens and puppies to adult cats and dogs! We always strive to cater your pet’s vaccines to their specific needs as well as your wants and needs as the pet owner. For more information about vaccines and which is best for your pet, please give us a call or send us an e-mail at carmelvalleypetclinic@yahoo.com and one of our dedicated staff members will be happy to help you out!

Diagnostic Procedures
Whether your pet has acute needs or long term maintanence, Dr. Liu and his staff can provide your pet with the tests needed to find out more about the health status of your pet. Most of these tests are performed same day at  the clinic so that you do not have to wait too long. Complete blood panels, urinalysis, fecal tests for parasites, giardia and parvo, special tests for canine pancreatitis and feline FELV/FIV tests, x-rays, cytology of the skin, ear, and eyes and much more are all provided here at the clinic to help diagnose and treat your pet for a wide variety of needs and illnesses. Many different tests may be needed in order to properly diagnose and treat your pet. Dr. Liu and his staff strive to work with you, the pet parent, to do what is best for not only your pet but for YOU! Please feel free to call us with any of your concerns and we will be happy to help you in any way we can. Appointments are recommended to see the doctor but not necessary, whenever possible we try to get you seen the same day you call.

Spay/Neuter
Dr. Liu performs spays and neuters for cats and dogs of all sizes. Surgeries are scheduled Monday through Friday. An examination is recommended before scheduling the surgery to make sure your pet is healthy and old enough to undergo this very important surgery. No overnight stay is required after spays or neuters. For more details about spaying and neutering, please give us a call or send an e-mail to carmelvalleypetclinic@yahoo.com. We look forward to assisting you!

Same Day Surgeries
Dr. Liu is highly skilled in many surgeries. Although a wide variety of surgeries are available, Dr. Liu does NOT perform ear cropping or tail docking. Surgeries are performed Monday through Friday. Some of those surgeries include spays, neuters, lumpectomies, ear hematoma repair, ear flushing, surgical tooth extractions and more. All animals are strictly monitored by the doctor and a skilled assistant while under anesthesia. Although discouraged, Dr. Liu does performs declaw surgeries for cats (front paws only). For all of these surgeries (except declaws) the animals go home the same evening! or more details on surgery and your pet, send us an e-mail at carmelvalleypetclinic@yahoo.com or give us a call and we will be more than happy to answer your questions!

X-Rays
Carmel Valley Pet Clinic has two different kinds of x-rays for diagnosing purposes. There is a traditional x-ray in-house used for everything from possible broken bones, obstructions (due to tennis balls, socks or anything else pets typically get into), urinary blockage, chest x-rays, cancer screening and much more. We also have a highly specialized dental x-ray machine, which is used during dental procedures, surgical tooth extractions, oral abscesses and more.

Grooming
We offer limited grooming here at Carmel Valley Pet Clinic. We do everything from simple nail trims to full body shaves. Our dog baths always include a Capstar pill (to kill fleas and prevent fleas from spreading in our clinic), ear cleaning, nail trim, anal gland expression, bath with oatmeal and aloe shampoo and cream rinse, heated drying and very thorough brushing. Cat baths include a Capstar pill, ear cleaning, and nail trim, bath, dry and brushing. We always recommend that pet owners follow up a bath by using FRONTLINE PLUS on their pet to prevent fleas and ticks. An appointment is highly recommended for any grooming. All grooming appointments should arrive prior to 10:00am so the animal has time to dry and receive a good brushing!
